Master Chocolatier, Mark Tilling from Squires Kitchen will be with us with samples a-plenty! We will start with a short film about the International Chocolate Masters Competition and watch amazing chocolate sculpture creations come to life. Mark will demonstrate how to temper chocolate to achieve a smooth glossy finish and then how to use it. He will talk about the different types of cocoa pods and explain how where they grow affects their flavour, illustrated through samples of different types of chocolate.
Mark won a gold and two silver awards at Le Salon Culinaire International de Londres 2012 at Hotelympia 2012. He won gold for his decorative exhibit and silver for his chocolate petits fours and desserts – you can see pictures on facebook here

Monthly Meeting
For our February meeting we have a talk on vintage clothes and in particular historic underwear by Alison Carter, who has worked for Hampshire Museums for 25 years.
She has her own collection of corsetry and lingerie dating from 1800-2000, which she acquired in order to write a book on the subject, and also for the purposes of reminiscence, story-telling and laughter! She is bringing a selection of her collections along so that we can get up close and personal with whalebone, linen, silk, lace, embroidery and elastic.
Another of her talents is dating peoples old photos from dress - for family history research purposes, etc.

Monthly Meeting
We are planning a Women's poetry evening this month, as a way of sharing and celebrating the pleasure of poetry and extending our minds!! Dig out your poetry books, and simply come along to the meeting armed with a copy of a favourite poem by a female poet, that you would like to share with our group. If you are willing to read out your poem, so much the better, but if you would prefer not to , we shall have a couple of readers who are happy to take on that role. If you are also able to say why you like the poem you have brought that would also be great, but not essential. If you just want to come along and listen, that is fine too.
If you are unsure where to start, here are some female poets:
- Wendy Cope (used to live in Winchester)
- Carol Ann Duffy (poet laureate)
- U A Fanthorpe
- Sylvia Plath
- Emily Dickinson
- Christina Rossetti
